Here's the finished version of the drawing I posted about a couple days ago. I decided to take a bold step and NOT tediously retrace every line. Instead, I converted the rough sketch to halftones then livetraced it. I think it worked pretty well and I'll probably work like this a bit more in the future. Definitely happy with this piece, and compared to those older sketches in a similar style, I feel this shows a lot of growth in terms of technique and color (and time! it was maybe 2-3 hours of work as opposed to the 8+ I used to spend on each hand traced piece).

Back to an older style

In preparation for a Threadless contest based around the theme "democracy", I looked back on some of my old sketchbooks and was inspired to do a design along the lines of some of this stuff from a year or so ago. This is what I cam up with. Pretty happy with it. I also think it shows some improvement on that other stuff on my part.
