I'm three sessions into an introduction to illustration summer class at MCAD, and the above is something I did for an assignment. I do a lot of pen drawings, but never before have I taken one into illustrator, livetraced it, and colored it. I'm pretty happy with the result and would love to work in this way more, hopefully eventually getting confident enough to do T-design, and other more serious work in the style.
Even though I've been doing illustration for a while, I've never taken a class specifically
on it. I'm a studio art major at a liberal arts college, so I'm used to fine art classes. It's definitely refreshing, and surprisingly helpful to take a class on Illustration. The instructor, Allen Brewer, is a great working illustrator, and another nice perk of the class is being able to talk to someone who actually works in the industry (I don't know any other illustrators personally).
